Multiple reports on Thursday afternoon suggest that Al-Ahli have an agreement in principle with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, also targeted by Chelsea, who was offered an enormous contract worth €160m over four years.
Reports Al-Ahli have agreement on personal terms with Osimhen
According to Rai Sport, Saudi Sport, Calciomercato.it and others, Osimhen has given his approval to a four-year contract worth €40m per season in wages.
Al-Ahli are also prepared to include a release clause in the deal, which could facilitate a move back to Europe from 2025 onwards.
Al-Ahli will still need to negotiate an appropriate transfer fee with Osimhen’s current employers, Napoli.
The former Capocannoniere had been subject of interest from Chelsea again over the last week, but their offer of personal terms were completely blown out of the water by Al-Ahli, who have now reportedly offered the player around four times as much as Chelsea did.
Chelsea had been hoping to tie the Nigeria international down to a similar set of personal terms to the ones that he earns on his current Napoli contract, which is around €10m per season.
Osimhen has a €130m release clause in his current Napoli deal, but it is understood that Al-ahli offered a fee slightly below €70m when they first approached the Partenopei.
If they can pay 160m in wages, then they can pay a lot more than 70m for the fee. Napoli need to fleece these type of teams.
