The Roma hierarchy have been stirred by Francesco Totti’s comments earlier this week, and will offer the captain a new contract.

The legendary goalscorer admitted at a Press conference that the new Giallorossi shirt ‘would be my last’.

Some believed it was a hint that the Lupi veteran would retire at the end of the season, however President James Pallotta and the board see it as a cry for a new deal.

The 36-year-old’s contract expires on June 30, 2014 and has so far not been offered an extension.

Reports suggest that Roma will offer Totti a one-year deal with the option of a second, but will hope to reduce his wags from €5m per season to €4m.
