Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori missed the 4-3 defeat to Fiorentina in Serie A and doesn’t seem to make it back in time for the trip to Atletico Madrid.

Corriere della Sera reports the English defender, who was replaced by Matteo Gabbia in Florence, will not travel to the Spanish capital.

Serie A | Fiorentina 4-3 Milan: Rossoneri unbeaten record over

Tomori had played all 12 Serie A games until the match at the Artemio Franchi on Saturday, when the unbeaten run came to an end.

The 23-year-old has played all four games in Champions League too, but seems set to miss the big game due to a hip injury.

But Gabbia doesn’t seem set to replace Tomori against the Rojiblancos, as captain Alessio Romagnoli will most likely partner Denmark international Simon Kjaer in the heart of the defence.

Milan are currently bottom of Group B in the Champions League with only one point from the first four matches.

A defeat would see the Rossoneri eliminated from Europe this term, as they sit three points behind the Spanish champions and four behind Porto with two games remaining.

  1. I think a genuine effort needs to be made to try our utmost to aim for second or third. We can take a hit for a few games in the league, but we simply cannot exit the champions league with 1 point after being called “European Giants” in every single UCL and UEL game for the last 2 years.
