The Rossoneri originally declared earlier this week that by 6pm in Italy on Friday evening – 5pm UK time – a choice between the two Argentine strikers would have been made and registration handed to the League for whichever player they had agreed a deal with.
However, as La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting, that deadline looks to have passed without a conclusive decision being made.
This is understood to be because Adriano Galliani is still in negotiations with Manchester City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and it is thought that the English side have slightly relinquished ground.
Specifically, the belief is that Al Mubarak has opened the door to Tevez joining Milan on an initial loan deal. However, where some reports indicate that this would be for just six months until Milan pay an agreed higher price for the player this summer, others sources are suggesting that the Argentine could be on loan at San Siro until the summer of 2013.
The news comes a matter of hours after Tevez’ advisor Kia Joorabchian claimed that his client was unlikely to move this month.
Catania forward Lopez and his agent are understood to have also held further talks with the club today. Lopez is set to join the San Siro side on loan should Galliani be unsuccessful in signing Tevez.
