Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman will reportedly have another operation on his troublesome knee injury.

It emerged this week that a new procedure could be in the pipeline, with the club leaving it up to the player to decide whether to go under the knife.

Now Il Messaggero believes Strootman has decided to have new surgery, as he’s still struggling with pain in his knee.

The Dutch international ruptured a cruciate ligament in a match with Napoli in March 2014, then required another operation after developing Cyclops Syndrome.

The newspaper reports that not only will the Giallorossi allow Strootman the choice of having surgery in Germany or Italy, they are ready to offer a contract extension to show the faith they have in him.

The Gazzetta dello Sport, meanwhile, reports that the player may even require two surgeries, as with Fiorentina’s Giuseppe Rossi, who has had his own battle with a series of knee injuries.
