Tottenham are in advanced talks with Atalanta over Cristian Romero and have reportedly offered over €50m to accelerate a deal, but La Dea have asked for time to find a replacement.
Sky Sport Italia reports the Orobici are asking for time to find a new centre-back to replace Romero, but Spurs are in a hurry and have offered a figure that exceeds €50m including bonuses.
There’s still no agreement between the two parties for the transfer of the Argentine defender, who is still on holiday after participating at the Copa America with the national team.
The broadcaster claims Atalanta have a list of three possible replacements ahead of 2021-22, as the talks between the Lilywhites and the Nerazzurri continued regarding Romero.
Fabrizio Romano reports Romero wants a move to London and Spurs hope to speed up the operation, as the Premier League starts before Serie A.
Tottenham want to have Romero available before the big game against Manchester City on August 15 and new meetings between the two clubs are expected next week.
Romero returns from holiday tomorrow and on Monday he is called up to train with the Orobici, but the 23-year-old, who joined Atalanta last summer, reportedly hopes to join Tottenham.
Atalanta, however, are asking for time to close a deal with his replacement at the Gewiss Stadium.
