Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened talks with Napoli over a deal for midfielder Amadou Diawara.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, Tottenham are ‘really’ interested in Diawara and talks are ‘ongoing’ with Napoli.

The Partenopei paid Bologna €14.5m for the 21-year-old in the summer of 2016 and was expected to fill Jorginho’s place in their midfield.

However, the Guinean has made just eight Serie A starts this season due to Carlo Ancelotti’s preference for a two-man midfield, with Allan, Piotr Zielinksi and Fabian Ruiz above him in the pecking order.

Spurs interest is nothing new, given they were also linked with his services last summer.
