Record reports Sporting want to keep the Inter midfielder and the Nerazzurri CEO could be willing to grant the club a significant discount and sell for €6.7m.

But the biggest obstacle for the Portuguese side is the €2.7m-a-year salary that is way above the salary cap at the Verde e Brancos.

The Leoes currently pay €1m of his salary and the rest is covered by the Italian champions, but the outlet reveals that this obstacle could be overcome by a 50 per cent tax incentive valid for taxpayers registered by 2015 who didn’t reside in the country between 2016 and 2018, and who returned between 2019 and 2020.

Joao Mario could thus end up on a permanent move back to where his professional career started and where it was revived this season.
