Former Chelsea boss and Italy midfielder Roberto Di Matteo is reportedly a serious candidate to become the next Coach of Las Palmas.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Di Matteo is one of two options Las Palmas are considering as the managerless islanders look to lift themselves off the bottom of La Liga.

The 47-year-old was born in Switzerland but represented Italy 34 times and played for Lazio between 1993 and 1996.

The 47-year-old was born in Switzerland but represented Italy 34 times and played for Lazio between 1993 and 1996.

However, he is best known for his time in the Premier League with Chelsea, both as a player and Coach, the latter of which saw him win a Champions League and FA Cup double in 2012.

Despite his historic feat, Di Matteo has been out of work since leaving Aston Villa of England’s second tier last year.
