Report: Serie A quarantine can be shortened

According to Sky Sport Italia, the medical protocol agreed for Serie A matches will quarantine the whole squad for 14 days with a positive test, but is open to changes if the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy eases.

This is a very important caveat that seems to be included in the wording of the latest medical protocol, which allows it to differ from the protocol for contact training.

This is a very important caveat that seems to be included in the wording of the latest medical protocol, which allows it to differ from the protocol for contact training.

It means the CTS (technical scientific committee) has accepted the proposals of the Serie A clubs and will decide to potentially lower the quarantine period to seven days for the entire squad if the overall pandemic curve falls in the country.

This should not be too much of an issue, because the aside from Lombardy, most regions in Italy are registering under 10 new cases per day.

Italian football authorities are frustrated at the situation, because although Britain now has more COVID-19 deaths and cases than Italy, they are only asking the individual who tests positive to be quarantined and even that is just for seven days.

The entire squad does not need to be isolated in the Premier League rules.
