According to La Repubblica newspaper, Roma CEO Lina Souloukou has been placed under police protection after anger from fans over the sacking of Daniele De Rossi.

The club shocked everyone this week when suddenly announcing that their coach had been fired, despite only recently signing a new contract.

It was assumed that there were behind the scenes issues causing the dismissal and some have pointed the finger of blame at their CEO.

Some have taken their anger too far and reportedly made threats, to the degree that La Repubblica newspaper claims Souloukou and her children have been placed under police protection.

This is believed to be only a precaution and not a full-on police escort, but more of an enhanced security sweep.

The matter will be evaluated by the authorities over the next few days to decide whether to continue or even step up the protection protocol.

Tension is sky high ahead of Sunday’s Serie A match between Roma and Udinese, where new coach Ivan Juric will make his debut.

  1. Pathetic behavior. Can’t they see Roma did not go anywhere & receive no positive results under De Rossi? Small club with pathetic fans, no wonder few trophies in their cabinet.
