The Giallorossi are still without a tactician after first choice Massimiliano Allegri opted to remain with Milan.

Laurent Blanc confirmed talks collapsed this week, so the short-list was down to three names: Lille boss Garcia, Newell’s Old Boys Coach ‘Tata’ Martino and ex-Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, a deal has been struck with Garcia for a two-year contract worth €1.5m per season.

The agreement will include performance-related bonuses and an option for a third year.

It’s reported the decision was made in Barcelona with director Walter Sabatini and agent Pascal Boisseau.

Garcia is 49 years old and won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in 2011 with Lille.

He has been at the club since 2008, having previously worked at Saint-Etienne, Dijon and Le Mans.
