The former England international spent 2019-20 in Rome and has convinced the Giallorossi to work hard for his permanent transfer to the Olimpico.

But the Red Devils are reportedly expecting €20m for the 30-year-old, despite La Lupa’s desperate attempts to haggle.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma are delivering a new offer to Manchester United, hoping to reach an agreement at a total tally of €17m.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma are delivering a new offer to Manchester United, hoping to reach an agreement at a total tally of €17m.

The offer consists of the initial €3m for the loan deal plus €14m for his permanent signature. The newspaper claims Roma are in a hurry, as Smalling has been targeted by Newcastle United in the Premier League too.

Smalling appeared 37 times across all competitions for Roma in 2019-20 and contributed three goals in the process.
