Roma are reportedly preparing to move for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren after being priced out of Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld had been Roma’s first choice to bolster their backline, but Tottenham’s demands of €40m look to have put the brakes on that deal.

Consequently, Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla writes they are now looking at Lovren, who had been linked with Milan and who is valued at €20m.

Furthermore, his agent Bjorn Beemer is expected to land in Italy soon, where he could address the Croat’s future.

Milan, meanwhile, have since agreed a deal for Flamengo stopper Leo Duarte, seemingly ending their pursuit of the 31-year-old.

Lovren has fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool, who recently signed teenage centre-back Sepp van den Berg.
