According to Sportmediaset, Roma owners are unhappy with results and performances under José Mourinho and could sack the Portuguese coach, replacing him with club legend Daniele De Rossi.

Roma suffered a 3-1 loss against Milan at the Stadio Meazza on Sunday and are currently outside a European placement in Serie A, five points below fifth-placed Fiorentina.

Hopes to qualify for next season’s Champions League are still alive, but according to Sportmediaset, Roma owners are unhappy with the team’s performances and results, which include a 1-0 Coppa Italia loss against Lazio last week and four defeats in eight matches against direct opponents in Serie A, with just six points collected from the 24 available.

The report claims Roma owners are also unimpressed by Mourinho’s inflammatory statements against referees, so they are now considering sacking the Portuguese tactician.

Mourinho seems to have lost the support of a part of the Roma ultras who criticised the team before and after Sunday’s away defeat against Milan.

According to Sportmediaset, De Rossi is one of the candidates who can potentially replace Mourinho for the final part of the season. The 2006 Italy World Cup winner was one of Roberto Mancini’s assistants at Euro 2020 and was sacked after 17 games at SPAL in Serie B last season, winning just three games, losing eight and drawing six.
