Roma have reportedly agreed to take Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea at €8m including bonuses, with the striker accepting a huge pay cut to make the move go through.

After days of negotiations, the two clubs have seemingly shaken hands on the deal and are set to sign the paperwork this evening.

The figures reported by the Daily Telegraph are slightly different to the ones put forward by Sky Sport Italia earlier today.

While the Italians put the loan at €5m plus bonuses, the English report includes the add-ons for a total of €8m.

What they can agree on is that Lukaku will take a big pay cut to make the move go through.

Initially it had been suggested the fee would be €10m with Chelsea paying a portion of the Belgian’s salary.

Instead, the loan fee is lower and Lukaku is ready to accept a wage of just €7.5m per season, compared to the €12m net he was due to pocket at Stamford Bridge.

After a weekend in Brussels, Lukaku is reportedly in London now and ready to sign the contracts along with owner Dan Friedkin and director Tiago Pinto.

It was evident today that progress was being made because CEO Lina Souloukou and Chief of Financial Planning Anna Rabuano also made the journey to London.

They are known in Roma circles as ‘the women who draw up the contracts.’

According to Sky Sport Italia, the private jet flown by Dan Friedkin will land with Lukaku on board in Rome on Tuesday at circa 17.00 local time (16.00 in the UK).
