The speculation around the Bosnian forward intensified on Sunday when Miralem Pjanic declared Dzeko “would run” to the Stadio Olimpico and even reduce his wages.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the club has agreed a five-year contract worth €4.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

This is a reduction from his current salary of €5.5m per season earned at City, a deal that still has three years left to run.

Manchester City would be prepared to sell Dzeko, who dropped down the pecking order, especially if Roma include Adem Ljajic as part of an exchange.

It’s rumoured that now the truly intensive stage of the negotiations between clubs will begin.
