Andrea Stramaccioni is unlikely to become Aston Villa’s next manager as the English club have reportedly targeted Thierry Henry.
Stramaccioni was said to be a leading candidate to replace Steve Bruce, but The Times claims Henry is the favourite to take over, with former Chelsea defender John Terry assisting him.
The former Juventus attacker has been part of Belgium’s backroom staff since 2016 and had been linked with the Villa job over the summer.

Stramaccioni, meanwhile, was considered one of Italian football’s most promising young Coaches after he guided Inter’s Primavera side to glory in the precursor to the UEFA Youth League in 2012.
The 42-year-old was then promoted to their first team but lasted barely more than a season and has since been sacked by Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague, as well as lasting only a single campaign at Udinese.
