Milan left-back Diego Laxalt is cold on Fenerbahce, preferring to remain in Italy for Fiorentina or Atalanta, it’s reported.

Sportitalia claim that the Uruguay international is not convinced by the approach from Turkish side Fenerbahce, even if it would be more lucrative.

He has spent most of his career in Serie A and wishes to remain there, at least for the moment.

Fiorentina had already been mentioned as targeting Laxalt, especially with Cristiano Biraghi in negotiations for a transfer to Inter.

Fiorentina had already been mentioned as targeting Laxalt, especially with Cristiano Biraghi in negotiations for a transfer to Inter.

However, Atalanta have emerged as new contenders and they have reason to feel confident.

The Orobici are in the Champions League and Laxalt already worked with Coach Gian Piero Gasperini during their time together at Genoa.

He played 44 matches under Gasp as a left-wing-back, scoring three goals and providing four assists from 2014-16.

The 26-year-old only left Genoa for Milan in a €14m plus bonuses deal last summer, but struggled to make an impact with 29 competitive appearances, most of them off the bench.
