According to reports in England, Napoli have seen an opening offer for Billy Gilmour rejected by Brighton and Hove Albion, but plan to increase the bid.

Telegraph Sport and Sky Sports UK claim that Antonio Conte has firmly set his sights on the Scotland international to improve his midfield after taking over at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

It is rumoured the first proposal of £8m was turned down (approximately €9.5m), but they could step it up next week to £12m (€14.2m).

Gilmour worked with Conte at Chelsea

This would be a reunion with Conte, who already worked with Gilmour at Chelsea before the €8.3m transfer to Brighton in September 2022.

He only turned 23 last month and has 79 Premier League appearances under his belt, with a contract to June 2026.

Although flourishing under Roberto De Zerbi’s tutelage, it remains to be seen if new Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler will want to keep hold of the midfielder.
