Now, Tuttosport is reporting Carletto could be in line for a return to the Rossoneri this summer if Maldini stays on as technical director.

The 60-year-old managed the Rossoneri between 2001 and 2009, winning a Scudetto and two Champions Leagues with a squad boasting the likes of Kaka, Andriy Shevchenko and the former defender himself.

The Diavolo have shown improvement under Stefano Pioli but have won just one of their first five matches with him at the helm.

They travel to the Partenopei on November 23, in their first game after the international break.
