Milan and midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko are exploring how to cut short the French midfielder’s loan spell by 12 months, according to reports in Italy.

The 27-year-old is midway through his second loan spell with Rossoneri and on this occasion, the deal was for two years with the option to sign permanently.

But Bakayoko made just 14 Serie A appearances in Milan’s title-winning campaign and with the club targeting midfield reinforcements this summer, that situation is unlikely to improve in the next campaign.

Il Corriere dello Sport report the two parties are in discussion with parent club Chelsea over how to cut the loan deal short by 12 months.

The midfielder is keen to explore other options, though at present does not have too many offers on the table, the report adds.

Bakayoko was part of the Monaco side which won Ligue 1 in 2016-17 and were beaten by Juventus in the Champions League semi-finals.

He joined Chelsea that summer but left for Milan on loan the following campaign.

Bakayoko then spent time at former club Monaco and Napoli before returning to the Rossoneri.

  1. I feel for Bakayoko. He never got a chance to get a run of games last season. To see him at his best, he needs a run of games. He could very much be a replacement for Kessie as he is technically gifted and is physically imposing as well. When Ringhio began to play him, he was a shining light in that Milan side with interceptions, slalom runs and dribbles and actually connected with the fans too. He deserves to go somewhere where he can play.
