Mediapro will reportedly sue Lega Serie A after all 20 clubs voted unanimously to terminate the broadcaster’s contract.

According to Il Messaggero, the decision to strip Mediapro of its 2018-21 TV rights came after Mediapro failed to provide guarantees for their €1bn offer.

The publication explains the Spanish firm tried to salvage the deal by proposing a €186m deposit, but that was also rejected due to its ‘risky’ plans for marketing the rights to be shown on a new platform.

Consequently, its CEO Jaume Roures would be preparing to take legal action against the Lega, although Il Messaggero believes this is only for the Catalan to recover the €64m already put down as a deposit.

As for who could purchase the rights, the newspaper reports Serie A is hoping Sky come back in with an offer ‘of at least €900m’
