Multiple reports on Sunday night claimed Roberto Mancini had already signed a contract termination with Inter, paving the way for Frank De Boer.

There had already been suggestions that the club was trying to work out a golden handshake deal with the Coach.

Late Sunday evening, at approximately midnight Italian time, multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Calciomercato.it and FCInterNews all claimed Mancini had put pen to paper on the termination.

It ends his tenure, which began in November 2014, with under two weeks to go before the start of the Serie A season.

It's widely reported that De Boer, a former Ajax Coach, is in talks to take over with a three-year contract.

The tension was escalating at the club after a series of poor pre-season results, including a 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich and defeats against CSKA Sofia and Paris Saint-Germain.

The takeover by Chinese group Suning also prompted debate between Mancini and club on how to progress on the transfer market.
