Reports are emerging from Italy that Inter have agreed a €13m transfer fee with Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds have made their interest clear for some time and were in a bidding war with Southampton.

However, Liverpool were more determined and flew directors over to discuss the matter with Inter in person.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal has been reached for €13m – around £11m.

The transfer is imminent for the 20-year-old, even though Liverpool must secure a work permit first.

Inter will then immediately fly over to Brazil in order to reinvest that money in Corinthians midfielder Paulinho, who would be available for €20m.

Coutinho showed flashes of real talent during his time at San Siro, but struggled for consistency and suffered from a series of injuries.

There were also concerns among fans and pundits over his mental strength at the highest level.

Coach Andrea Stramaccioni hinted at Coutinho's exit when speaking of "painful sales" in today's Press conference.
