Franck Kessie’s move as a free agent from Milan to Barcelona would appear to be a done deal, with Spanish newspaper AS reporting ‘the contract has already been signed.’

There were already suggestions in various papers in both Italy and Spain this morning that Kessie had agreed personal terms worth €6.5m per season.

That is more or less the same deal Milan had been offering to extend his contract, but the difference would be the commission going to agent Georga Atangana, believed to be €10m.

Salary and agent fees: details of Kessié’s Barcelona contract revealed

“Sources within Barcelona confirmed to me that the contract has already been signed,” Diario AS writer Juan Jimenez told MilanNews.it.

“Barcelona have been in talks with the Ivorian for months, as Kessie is seen as an opportunity on the transfer market. He is the kind of midfielder they don’t currently have in the squad.

“Sergio Busquets could leave the club in 2023 and Frenkie de Jong could drop into a deeper role. All this could give space to Kessie, along with Gavi or Pedri.”

Kessie had also been linked with numerous other clubs, including Manchester United, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but it would seem as if the decision has been made and the paperwork signed.

  1. 5 goals in 22 matches a marked drop-off compared to his performance last season. Not a big loss.

  2. I am happy Milan did not accept any ridiculous demands by these horrible agents. If UEFA are not going to take action it’s better that clubs make a stand.

As for Kessié, the same thing as Dollarumma will happen to him. He is not suited to Barca’s style of play, and honestly I don’t know what Xavi’s been smoking. He will have keep the bench warm.

There’s no way he’s gonna unseat de Jong, Pedri or Gavi in that lineup, while Busquets and Nico Gonzalez will give him a run for his money. The only thing he has going for him is his injury record, but then again, as long as his agent gets that fat commission…

  3. Hoping this is the final outcome. Have much more respect for someone going to Barcelona than crossing the city or going to play for the Qatari. I’m looking forward to seeing him integrate into a growing team where I believe he will become far more respected internationally than he could have at Milan. Really great move if true.

Its unfortunate it seems to have come down to the agent yet again but that’s modern football.
