Reports in Spain suggest Juventus have informed Real Madrid and Barcelona they are leaving the Super League project, another step in their break away from Andrea Agnelli’s reign.

According to Relevo, the statement was sent out to both Spanish clubs, who now remain the only ones still committed to the failed plans to set up a rival tournament to the UEFA Champions League.

If confirmed, this would be another step in the process Juventus have been undergoing over the last six months, since the Prisma investigation erupted into the club artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains.

Agnelli and the entire board of directors resigned, while his cousin John Elkann took a more commanding role over the club’s future.

This includes trying to mend the bridges that Agnelli burned with UEFA when announcing the Super League project in April 2021.

Of the 12 clubs that originally signed up to the plan, only three remain and if the reports are confirmed, that is now down to two.

It also reiterates Juve trying to cut ties with the Agnelli era, such as accepting the 10-point Serie A penalty and working out a plea bargain for the so-called salary manoeuvres.
