According to Corriere dello Sport, there are now “the ideal economic conditions” for Juve to bring in Ozil, given he will become a free agent at the end of the season.

The newspaper expects the 29-year-old to run his contract down and notes the Bianconeri have tracked the German for the past three campaigns.

However, that is subject to United offering €40m for Ozil, who worked under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

Nonetheless, Il Corriere believes the No 11 is ‘focused’ on a new experience after playing in the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League, while also citing his friendship with ex-Madrid teammate Sami Khedira.

Ozil joined Arsenal four-and-a-half years ago and has gone on to win three FA Cups and two Community Shields at the Emirates Stadium.

Juve are also thought to be closing in on another German of Turkish origin in Liverpool’s Emre Can.
