OGC Nice star Mario Balotelli will be called up for Italy’s games against Spain and Macedonia, it’s reported.

The striker has rediscovered his form and confidence in Ligue 1, scoring four goals in three appearances for Nice.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Nice today received formal notification from the Italian Federation that Balotelli will be called up for international duty.

This is a formal step that has to be taken for players who are overseas and does not necessarily mean Balo will be in the final squad list next week.

It’ll be his first call since new Coach Giampiero Ventura took over in August.

The Azzurri continue the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign by hosting Spain at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on October 6, then visiting Macedonia on October 9.

Their opening qualifier was a 3-1 victory in Israel on September 5.

SuperMario has 13 goals in 33 senior Italy caps, but has not featured since the ill-fated 2014 World Cup.

Antonio Conte called him in once during his two-year tenure, but Balo pulled out with injury and was never reconsidered.
