Report: Italiano signs for Fiorentina

Vincenzo Italiano has reportedly signed a two-year contract with Fiorentina, who will pay Spezia €1m to release him and a player in exchange for his staff.

The situation changed rapidly this morning after it had seemingly ground to a halt, pushing the Viola towards Paulo Fonseca instead.

The two clubs finally reached an agreement to terminate Italiano’s contract early at a cost of €1m, which was written into it as a release clause, a deal that was only signed a few weeks ago.

The issue was getting Italiano’s staff to go with him, as there was no release clause in their contracts.

This was resolved by Fiorentina pledging to hand over a youth player in exchange for the staff.

Italiano held a meeting with Fiorentina directors Joe Barone and Daniele Pradè this afternoon, in which TG RAI Toscana claim he signed the contract.

It’s a two-year deal with option to extend for a third and should be made official tomorrow.

Fiorentina finally get their tactician after Gennaro Gattuso signed on last month and then walked away just three weeks later following a row over transfer strategy.
