Vincenzo Italiano has reportedly agreed a contract extension with Fiorentina to 2024 with an option for another season, and will sign on Wednesday.

There had been suggestions of tension between the coach and the club, under a year into his time at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

It was rumoured that former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Roberto De Zerbi was being considered as a replacement.

According to Sky Sport Italia, agent Fali Ramadani worked out the final details today and agreed the deal with director general Joe Barone and director of sport Daniele Pradè.

It is reported the salary they have agreed is worth €1.7m per season plus performance-related bonuses and runs to June 2024, with an option to extend to June 2025.

Under Italiano’s tenure, the Viola secured a seventh-place finish in Serie A and qualified for the Europa Conference League preliminary round.

This is the first time Fiorentina have qualified for Europe in five years.
