According to reports in Serbia, Inter banned Aleksandar Kolarov from playing in the crucial Euro 2020 play-off defeat to Scotland.

The game ended 1-1 and was eventually decided on penalties in Belgrade, with Scotland qualifying for the tournament next summer.

Now MozzartSport.com claim that Kolarov did not feature because Inter and their medical staff refused to let Serbia play him.

Kolarov had a slight injury that kept him out of the most recent Serie A draw with Atalanta, so Inter would not give the all-clear so soon afterwards, as they were afraid of a relapse.

The report states that Kolarov did not want to enter into a collision course with his club, so after several days of tests in training as part of their starting XI, the call came just three hours before kick-off.

The Nerazzurri then recalled the 35-year-old to Milan for treatment, so he won’t take part in the next game against Hungary either.
