Lorenzo Insigne will meet with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis at Castel di Sangro to discuss the possible renewal with the Partenopei.

The captain returns from his extended holiday after the European Championship and will have his medical examinations and athletic tests at Castel Volturno.

The meeting should take place at the sports centre, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, as Insigne’s contract expires in June 2022 and wants a higher salary at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

The club, however, want the winger to take a pay cut due to the difficult times after the COVID pandemic.

Insigne has appeared in 397 competitive games with the Azzurri and scored 109 times so far, but his future is uncertain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms the report from Il Corriere dello Sport and Insigne is expected to meet with De Laurentiis within the next two days to discuss the terms in a potential new deal.
