La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Franck Kessie’s salary demands pushes him further and further away from a future at Milan, with Paris Saint-Germain monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

The Ivory Coast international has yet to reach an agreement with the Rossoneri over a new deal at San Siro, but both the player and the club have consistently been saying they want to continue together.

Kessie has not played in Serie A 2021-22 due to injury, but seems set for a return after the current international break and the club hopes he will commit to the club by signing a new deal.

Milan are desperate to renew with Kessie, after losing Hakan Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma for free after 2020-21, but the Rossoneri can’t match the player’s demands.

Kessie’s current deal expires in June 2022 and Paris Saint-Germain are, according to the newspaper, willing to offer him the requested €8m a season.

A few weeks ago, Milan reportedly offered Kessie a new deal worth €6.5m a year to stay at Milanello, but the player is asking for a superstar salary.

The 24-year-old arrived from Atalanta in July 2017, initially on a two-year loan deal. He signed a permanent deal with the club in 2019 which expires next year.

  1. Pay him and Atangana what they want and then TRANSFER HIM so that we don’t lose his asset value.

Suck up the high salary for a single season if necessary then in the subsequent transfer window put him up for sale. Very simple. We get some revenue for him as opposed to nil.

We cannot go along this road indefinitely letting contracts run down. Romagnoli next. We CANNOT let Kessie go for free.

  2. I agree Nick. Give him the salary he’s after and as soon as possible, get him sold.

He’s a cracking player but I’ve seen better players than him in a Milan jersey and I’ve seen better players than him leave as well. No one is bigger than the club

  3. Thanks Marty. Very true, absolutely no one bigger. He’s great to have in the team/squad but we will go on without him.

8m per season for a player that disappears for AFCON every 2 years increasing his fatigue, injury risk and unavailable to the squad. Time to cut loose.

Also, it’s a dept that we have strengthened recently (Baka) and now have some depth, plus Adli for next season.

  4. Psg give 8 salary because he is free.. Soon milan give him 8m years salary, no other club would pay him for transfer fee and big salary

  5. milan losing all their good young players because they are cheap. but prefer to pay top salaries for old and washed up players like ibra and giroud. smh

  6. @serie a lover Giroud earns 3.5M and Ibra runs up to 7M if certain target are met and he deserves all of it injury apart. so what are you saying ? Get your facts right bro.

  7. This is a subject we will see more and more . Tricky agents have figured out how to play this system basically cutting the club out , he wants to stay ? Then sign something .
I would make one comment , losing Kessie will not be the same as Dollarumma . He was a key figure in the engine that allows the team to roar . I don’t think there was a single time I yelled at the TV ” Get him off the field ” , says a lot as I scream at the TV even when we are winning . He gave 110% every game i was able to watch . Pay him and figure it out . Think Bako can take his place wishful thinking at best . Tonali still need a year or two .
Players like Kessie are next to impossible to replace .

  8. 🔹🔹🔹Give chance to Italian youth. With all the foreign players what are the teams winning?? Cannot they end up more or less in the same position in the table with majority homegrown players?! 🔹🔹🔹

  9. He has been excellent for a long time now. Can’t risk losing him for nothing for the sake of a 1.5m difference. It makes absolutely no sense. The guy is a young, full-blooded player and will always draw interest from elsewhere – he can always be sold later if the salary becomes a burden. Start creeping up, start talking 7m, and surely a compromise can be found.

I have some sympathy regarding the Donnarumma situation, but the fact that the same happened with Calhan and the same is a possibility for Kessie doesn’t reflect well on Milan. The club’s value is not being protected on a basic level.
