According to Sky Sport Italia, Fiorentina have completed the paperwork for VfB Stuttgart forward Nico Gonzalez for €27m including bonuses.

The 23-year-old Argentina international had also been in negotiations with Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion, as well as Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Viola increased their offer and clinched the deal for €23m plus €4m in performance-related bonuses.

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports this evening that the paperwork has been signed.

He is now due to undergo a medical with the Tuscan club.

Gonzalez plays primarily on the left side of a trident attack, but can also work on the right or even in a central role.

He scored two goals in just seven senior caps for Argentina and has become a regular in the starting XI.

VfB Stuttgart purchased the player from Argentinos Juniors for €8.5m in 2018.

During the 2020-21 season, he contributed six goals and two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances.

However, he barely played after January due to a serious muscular injury.
