Reports Sepp Blatter has been provisionally suspended by the FIFA Ethics Committee and Michel Platini could follow.

A close friend of the FIFA President was quoted by Sky News and BBC Sport among others claiming it was a provisional 90-day suspension.

The Ethics Committee confirmed it is also discussing the position of UEFA President Platini, as both were questioned as part of a Swiss criminal investigation last week.

Platini received a payment of £1.35m from FIFA in 2011.

Several major sponsors of FIFA publicly called for Blatter to resign, but he is resisting all efforts to leave his post.
