This evening’s meeting between CEO Adriano Galliani and director of sport Walter Sabatini proved decisive.

“The deal for Romagnoli is done at 99.8 per cent,” declared Galliani this evening.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb, the two clubs are exchanging contracts tonight and the transfer will be announced imminently.

The deal is worth €25m plus €5m in performance-related bonuses.

This matches Roma’s original €30m asking price for the 20-year-old defender.

He has already agreed a five-year contract with the Rossoneri.

A medical may well have to wait, as Romagnoli has been called up for international duty with the Under-21 side and must be at their training camp in Rome this evening.

Some of the bonuses are par for the course, while others will be more difficult to activate, for example for winning the Scudetto or Champions League.

As Romagnoli is a product of the Roma youth academy, his sale will count as a huge profit on the books.
