Borussia Dortmund are close to finalising a deal to sign Napoli target Giovanni Simeone, according to reports.
The Argentina forward had appeared set to complete a move from Hellas Verona to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium once Andrea Petagna’s switch to Monza had been finalised.
However, Marca report a Dortmund delegation will fly to Italy on Thursday in the hope of finalising a deal for Simeone.
The German side’s needs for a new signing were accelerated in recent weeks following the news new signing Sébastien Haller will have to undergo chemotherapy for treatment on a malignant tumour.
Haller had arrived earlier in the summer as a replacement for Erling Haaland who joined Manchester City.
Napoli thought they were close to completing a deal for Simeone but the report adds Juventus are second to Dortmund in the race for the ex-Fiorentina attacker’s signature.
The Bianconeri are in the market for a new forward as they struggle to agree a deal with Atlético Madrid for Álvaro Morata.
if i were him, i’ll go dortmund
I hope he stays in Italy.
Let’s see if ADL can actually be competent for a change.
