Atletico Madrid are close to agreeing a deal for Rodrigo De Paul after reaching Udinese’s €35m plus bonuses asking price, according to Sportitalia.

The Argentina international is currently away at the Copa America, but has said several times that his experience with Udinese will come to an end this summer.

He had been of interest to Juventus, Inter, Milan, Napoli, Lazio, Roma and Leeds United.

However, Atletico Madrid quickly emerged as favourites and Diego Simeone specifically asked for the club to get the deal done.

It seems they listened, because the offer of €35m plus bonuses matches the €40m asking price set by Udinese.

De Paul is expected to sign a five-year contract worth €3.5m per season and all parties are believed to be in agreement, says Sportitalia and Gazzetta dello Sport transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla.

Tuttomercatoweb, Sky Sport Italia and others also followed confirming the news.

This ends one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as De Paul had already been close to an exit over the last few summers, but always remained at the Dacia Arena.
