Several different Italian reports suggest Chelsea are prepared to lower the asking price for Romelu Lukaku, as the striker wants to reunite with Antonio Conte at Napoli.

The pair always admired each other and finally got to work together at Inter, winning the Scudetto.

Now Conte has taken over at Napoli and is pushing to bring in the striker, who has just completed a loan spell with Roma.

Chelsea do not see the Belgium international in their future and there is a €44m release clause in his contract, which is the minimum they can take in without making a net loss on his original €115m transfer from Inter.

Lukaku price-tag could drop

However, Radio Kiss Kiss and Sport Mediaset both claim this evening that Chelsea are now prepared to accept a discount, so would let him go for €25-30m including bonuses.

Lukaku could also help bridge the financial gap by taking a pay cut with the Partenopei, from the €7.5m he earned at Roma to under €6m.

Milan have also been linked with the centre-forward, but he seems determined to join Napoli, especially as he is most closely associated with their rivals Inter.

  1. Of course they will compromise. Not sure who they think they’re kidding by suggesting that they won’t, even though he has no future at the club.

Then there’s Man Utd no doubt expecting far more than is realistic for Greenwood as well. Again, no future at the club, and is a reputational problem for them, not wanted at all. Do they think other clubs don’t realise that they’re desperate to sell?
