Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims coach Eusebio Di Francesco has identified the Brazilian as the perfect addition to the Rossoblu.

Cagliari are therefore stepping up their interest in the 29-year-old, who only played four games in Serie A this term.

But the report claims both Parma and Genoa are interested in the centre-back, prompting Cagliari to take the first step and enter negotiations with Roma.
