Cagliari defender Diego Godin seems set to leave Sardinia this summer and Besiktas have come forward to offer the Uruguayan a way out.

The Rossoblu defender arrived from Inter last summer, but the club can no longer support the €4m-a-year salary of the veteran.

The Uruguay international has, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, thus been transfer listed by the club and Besiktas are hoping to convince the former Atletico Madrid defender to move to Turkey.

The newspaper reveals Godin is not expected to take part in the pre-season retreat at Aritzo and that Besiktas have entered talks with the club and the player.

Godin played 28 games for Cagliari in 2020-21 and scored once for the Casteddu.
