Palermo have reportedly all-but agreed to bring back Davide Ballardini, with Walter Novellino sacked.

The Rosanero have endured a chaotic season, even by their standards, with no fewer than eight Coaching changes.

Following last night’s defeat at home to Lazio, it was reported that Novellino risked the sack.

Now SportMediaset is reporting that the Coach has already been told that he has been sacked, and negotiations are progressing with Ballardini.Ballardini, who was in charge earlier this season before his contract was terminated, is reportedly requesting a deal until 2017.

It’s thought club President Maurizio Zamparini will agree to that request, so a ninth change on the bench appears to be imminent.

Beppe Iachini began the season as the longest-serving Coach of the Zamparini era, but was sacked despite a 1-0 win over Chievo.

Ballardini took over after Iachini’s dismissal, and was also sacked after a win, having fallen-out with the squad.

Fabio Viviani then took over on a caretaker basis, before Argentinian Guillermo Barros Schelotto was appointed as the new permanent Coach.

However, he didn’t have the correct qualifications to take over a Serie A team, so Giovanni Tedesco was the official Coach while Palermo tried to sort out paperwork.

It was ultimately decided that Schelotto wouldn’t be allowed to take over, so he left the club in favour of a return to Boca Juniors.

Giovanni Bosi then stepped in, but was fired after just one game, a 3-1 defeat to Torino, and Iachini returned to the bench.

Zamparini promised not to sack the tactician for a second time in one season, but he left to be replaced by Novellino.

Now Novellino looks set to leave too, so despite a rift with the squad so bad that Ballardini's contract was actually terminated, it appears he'll be returning to the Rosanero hotseat.
