It’s reported Franco Baldini has resigned from the Roma board, after Francesco Totti claimed his fellow director pushed him into retirement.

Er Pupone releases his life story on Thursday, and previews have revealed that it was Baldini pushed the club not to offer a new contract.

The director returned to the club for a third time in 2016, working as a consultant dealing with sponsors, international relations and other things.

However, Il Romanista reports that with the book’s publication he has offered his resignation, as he doesn’t want to create a club issue with Totti, who is now a director.

With Baldini off the board it would simply be a dispute between two men, and the former Tottenham director couldn’t possibly win a popularity contest with the Giallorossi legend.

“Those are the captain’s words, I don’t see how I can discuss them without sowing at least some doubt,” the website quotes Baldini as saying.

However, Il Tempo has contacted owner James Pallotta, who will not accept the resignation.

“He’s never told me anything, and if he did I’d reject his resignation,” the American is quoted as saying.
