Napoli had been linked with the player too, but TMW claims Atalanta are formalities away of completing a four-year deal with the Shakhtar youth.
The Ukrainians have made it clear that Kovalenko will not move already in January and must wait until his contract expires next summer.
Kovalenko has played three games in the Champions League this term and has scored four goals in eight League games.
