He was replaced at the Allianz Stadium by Maurizio Sarri ahead of the 2019-20 season and has spent the last year contemplating his return to football.

Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with the coach from Livorno, but Allegri might have an opportunity to continue in Serie A.

Il Corriere dello Sport reveals he wants a return to the bench and has made himself available to discuss the project at Roma with new owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin.

But the report claims the project is very important for the 53-year-old, who travels at a high rate and wants to reopen a winning cycle, something he has proved to be capable of previously.

During the summer he was linked with Inter, should Antonio Conte have left his position at the Giuseppe Meazza, and reportedly asked for €10m a season to return to football.

The Rome based newspaper reveals he could settle for less and the bad start to the season could reportedly prompt early changes and big decisions made by The Friedkin Group.
