Sky Sport Italia report that Alexis Sanchez has decided on a surprise return to Udinese after his contract with Inter was allowed to expire.

The 35-year-old is a free agent and had also been linked with a potential move to Ligue 1 this summer for Olympique Marseille or LOSC Lille.

Instead, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio maintains that he has made the choice to return to Udinese.

Alexis Sanchez always kept Udinese in his heart

It has been a long time coming, as he first arrived in Italy for the Friulani in 2007 and was sold to Barcelona for €26m in the summer of 2011.

That was the first of several big money moves, as he went on through Arsenal and Manchester United before his return to Italy with Inter in 2019.

Alexis Sanchez made 112 competitive appearances for Udinese, scoring 21 goals and providing 20 assists.

The Chile international showed he could still give his contribution last season at Scudetto-winners Inter, scoring four goals and setting up another five, while he played at the Copa America.
