Roma midfielder Renato Sanches has suffered a first-degree lesion in his right thigh, so he’ll remain out of action for at least two weeks.

The Portuguese midfielder was forced off the pitch in Roma’s 2-1 win over Sheriff on Thursday and exams have highlighted a first-degree lesion in his right thigh, according to Sky Sport Italia and Il Corriere dello Sport. This means the PSG loanee will remain out of action for at least two weeks.

Therefore, Sanches is unlikely to be available for José Mourinho again before the October break, missing games against Torino, Genoa, Frosinone and Cagliari in Serie A, plus Servette in the Europa League.

Sanches, 26, has already missed two games at Roma due to muscle problems.

He joined the Giallorossi on loan with an option to buy from PSG earlier this summer, but Roma’s option becomes an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

Sanches has played 98 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico so far this season, starting two games.
