According to Sportitalia, Milan and Arsenal target Renato Sanches has put contract talks with Lille on hold.

Sanches sees his contract expire in June 2023, but the Ligue 1 champions have already begun talks to extend his stay at the club.

However, the Portuguese midfielder wants to take time and according to Sportitalia he has put negotiations with Lille on hold.

Sanches ‘feels ready for a new chapter of his career,’ writes transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà with Milan and Premier League clubs interested in securing his services.

Arsenal had previously been linked with signing the 24-year-old.

Sanches’ agent Jorge Mendes is the same as Rafael Leao and the Rossoneri are currently in talks with him to extend the winger’s contract at San Siro until 2026.

Milan are also on good terms with Lille and are in talks to sign Sven Botman in January.

Sanches, 24, joined Lille in a €20m deal from Bayern Munich in 2019. He has scored one goal and delivered three assists in 19 appearances across all competitions this season.

Milan will be looking for a new midfielder in the summer, assuming that Franck Kessié will leave the club as a free agent in June.
