Renato Sanches had agreed deal with Milan before PSG emerged

A report from L’Equipe today recounts how Renato Sanches had agreed personal terms with Milan before Paris Saint-Germain emerged to double the offer.

The Rossoneri didn’t have too much difficulty in finding an agreement with the 24-year-old, who was happy to sign a contract worth around €3m net per season, but things proved more difficult with Lille, who held firm with their €15m valuation. Milan’s best offer sat at €12m and it ultimately wasn’t enough to convince the Ligue 1 side.

PSG emerged and soon overtook the Rossoneri in the race, doubling the offer to €6m net per season. This convinced Renato Sanches of the move and he made his desire clear, allowing the Parisians to close out a deal for €13m plus €2m in add-ons.

Agent Jorge Mendes was the difference maker in the negotiations; he set up talks between the two French clubs and made an effort to get the deal across the line, allowing the 24-year-old to complete his move to Paris.
